About Password Protected ZIP
Password Protected ZIP lets you collect only the files you need from different folders or drives and bundle them into one encrypted ZIP. You can add files repeatedly by drag and drop, review the list, remove individual items and create the archive without first copying everything into a temporary folder.
How to use Password Protected ZIP
- 1
Drag files into the workspace or choose files from your computer.
- 2
Add more files from other folders or drives as many times as needed.
- 3
Review the selected list and remove anything you do not want in the archive.
- 4
Choose compression and AES-256 or legacy ZipCrypto encryption.
- 5
Enter and confirm a password, then create and download the protected ZIP.
Tips for better results
- AES-256 is the recommended mode for stronger protection and works with tools such as 7-Zip and WinRAR.
- Legacy ZipCrypto is offered only for compatibility and provides much weaker protection than AES-256.
- Already-compressed formats such as JPG, MP4 and ZIP may not become much smaller, but they can still be bundled and encrypted.
- Keep the password separately. Zavilo cannot recover a forgotten archive password.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to put all files into one folder first?
No. Add files repeatedly from different folders or drives. Zavilo builds one ZIP from the selected files without moving or copying the originals.
Can I drag and drop more files after the first selection?
Yes. Repeated file addition is a core part of the tool. The existing list stays in place while new files are appended.
Which file formats can I use?
Check the file picker and tool description for the supported formats. Available formats can vary by tool.
What happens if two selected files have the same name?
The original files are untouched. Zavilo automatically gives duplicate names a numbered suffix inside the ZIP so both files are preserved.
Which encryption should I choose?
Use AES-256 for stronger protection. ZipCrypto is a legacy compatibility option and is substantially weaker.
