URL Encode / Decode

Encode URL components or decode percent-encoded text into readable values.

About URL Encode / Decode

URL Encode / Decode converts special characters to percent-encoded URL component form and reverses that encoding.

Common use cases

Build query parameters

Encode spaces and reserved characters before placing user text inside a URL component.

Inspect encoded links

Decode percent-encoded values from logs, redirects or copied query strings.

Debug API requests

Check whether special characters were encoded once, twice or not at all.

How it works

1

Encode mode converts characters that are not safe in a URL component into percent-encoded bytes.

2

Decode mode reverses percent escapes back into readable characters.

3

The transformation is applied to the text you provide without making a network request.

Privacy & file handling

URL encoding stays in the browser

Input text is encoded or decoded locally; Zavilo does not need to send it to a server for this utility.

Limitations and important notes

  • Encoding an entire URL and encoding only a query parameter are different operations; choose the correct scope.
  • Double-encoding can turn an existing percent sign into %25 and make values harder to interpret.
  • Malformed percent sequences may fail to decode.
