About AI Background Remover
AI Background Remover separates the main foreground subject from a photographic background using a browser-run segmentation model. It is intended for people, products and other clearly separated foreground subjects where simple color-based background removal is not enough.

How it works

The browser loads an image-segmentation model and analyzes the source image.

Subject segmentation runs locally
The supported background-removal model processes the image in the browser, so the source image does not need to be sent to Zavilo for segmentation.
Limitations and important notes
- Hair, fur, transparent objects, reflections and low-contrast edges can produce imperfect masks.
- The model may select the wrong foreground when several subjects overlap or the main subject is ambiguous.
- Transparent PNG output can be larger than a compressed photographic source.

Remove Background Color matches pixels by color and works best with flat studio backgrounds. AI Background Remover estimates the foreground subject in complex photographic scenes.
Why can fine edges sometimes look imperfect?
AI segmentation estimates an alpha mask from the source image. Hair, fur, glass, motion blur and low contrast can make the foreground boundary ambiguous.
