Document Scanner

Turn photographed documents into clean scanned images online. Detect paper edges, correct perspective, deskew, enhance color, grayscale or black-and-white, and download JPG or PNG.

About Document Scanner

Document Scanner turns a photo of paper into a cleaner, front-facing document image. It automatically estimates the paper edges, lets you adjust all four corners, corrects perspective distortion, can straighten small text-line tilt, and offers color, grayscale and black-and-white scan styles.

Common use cases

Straighten photographed documents

Correct perspective when a page was photographed at an angle instead of directly overhead.

Prepare receipts and forms

Create a cleaner front-facing copy before OCR, archiving or sharing.

Fix camera framing

Crop away the surrounding desk or background and align the document edges.

How it works

1

The browser analyzes the image to estimate the four document corners.

2

Perspective correction maps the detected quadrilateral into a flat rectangular page.

3

The corrected page can be straightened and exported as a new image.

Privacy & file handling

Document geometry processing stays local

Corner detection and perspective correction are performed in the browser for the supported workflow rather than requiring the photographed document to be uploaded.

Limitations and important notes

  • Automatic corner detection can fail on low-contrast edges, shadows, folds or cluttered backgrounds.
  • Perspective correction cannot restore text that is blurred, overexposed or too small in the source photo.
  • Always verify the corrected page before OCR or record keeping.

How to use Document Scanner

  1. 1

Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP photo containing a paper document.

  2. 2

Wait for automatic edge detection, then drag the four corner handles if the paper boundary needs adjustment.

  3. 3

Choose Enhanced Color, Original Color, Grayscale or Black & White.

  4. 4

Keep Auto deskew enabled to correct small remaining text-line tilt after perspective correction.

  5. 5

Choose JPG or PNG and create the scanned document.

  6. 6

Review and download the corrected result.

Tips for better results

  • Include all four paper corners in the photo whenever possible.
  • Strong contrast between the paper and desk or background improves automatic edge detection.
  • If automatic detection is imperfect, manually placing the four handles on the real paper corners gives the most accurate perspective correction.
  • Enhanced Color is useful for photographed forms and notes, while Black & White works well for high-contrast text documents.

Frequently asked questions

Can it fix a document photographed from an angle?

Yes. The four detected or manually adjusted paper corners are used to transform the photographed quadrilateral into a front-facing rectangle.

Can I correct the corners manually?

Yes. Drag each of the four handles directly over the actual paper corners before processing.

Does it straighten slightly tilted text?

Yes. Auto deskew analyzes the corrected document and can remove small remaining tilt after perspective correction.

Which file formats can I use?

Check the file picker and tool description for the supported formats. Available formats can vary by tool.
