About Image Converter

Image Converter combines the common JPG, PNG and WebP conversion workflows into one focused workspace instead of separate pages for every format pair.

Common use cases

Prepare images for websites

Convert a source image into JPG, PNG or WebP when a CMS, marketplace, email template or web project expects a different format.

Preserve transparency when needed

Choose PNG or WebP for graphics that need transparent pixels instead of flattening them into a non-transparent JPG.

Balance compatibility and file size

Compare JPG and WebP outputs for photographs, or choose PNG when lossless graphics are more important than compact files.

Create editing-friendly copies

Make a PNG copy for graphics work or a broadly compatible JPG copy for software that does not accept a modern source format.

How it works

1

The browser decodes the selected JPG, PNG or WebP into image pixels.

2

You choose the target format instead of navigating to a separate page for every format pair.

3

For JPG and WebP, the quality control changes the amount of lossy compression used when the new file is encoded.

4

The resulting image is created as a new downloadable file while the original remains unchanged.

Privacy & file handling

Common image conversion stays on your device

JPG, PNG and WebP conversion is performed with browser image APIs. The source image does not need to be uploaded to Zavilo for this workflow.

Limitations and important notes

  • Changing the container format cannot restore detail that was already lost through compression, resizing or a low-quality source.
  • JPG cannot store transparency, so transparent pixels must be flattened when JPG is selected as the output.
  • PNG files can be much larger than JPG or WebP for photographic content because PNG uses lossless compression.
  • A smaller file is not guaranteed after every conversion; output size depends on the source image, target format and selected quality.
