About Resize Image

Resize Image changes pixel dimensions without requiring an upload. You can enter an exact width or height, keep the original aspect ratio, choose an output format and adjust quality for JPG or WebP.

Common use cases

Exact upload dimensions

Prepare an image for a website, marketplace, CMS or profile field that requires a specific pixel width or height.

Smaller display assets

Downscale large camera photos before using them in a page where the full source resolution would never be displayed.

Consistent batches and layouts

Use a predictable target size when several images need to fit the same card, gallery or document layout.

How it works

1

The browser reads the original pixel dimensions and calculates the requested target size.

2

With aspect ratio enabled, changing one dimension recalculates the other so the image is not stretched.

3

The resized pixels are encoded into the selected output format and saved as a new file.

Privacy & file handling

Resizing stays in the browser

The selected image is resized using online image APIs. Zavilo does not require a server upload to change its pixel dimensions.

Limitations and important notes

  • Enlarging an image creates more pixels but cannot recreate real detail that was never captured.
  • Disabling aspect ratio can visibly stretch or squash the subject.
  • Resizing and compression solve different problems: dimensions control pixel count, while encoding quality also affects file size.

Tips for better results

  • Keep aspect ratio enabled unless you intentionally want to stretch the image.
  • Reducing pixel dimensions usually reduces file size as well.
  • For additional size savings, run the result through Compress Image.

Frequently asked questions

What does keep aspect ratio mean?

It automatically adjusts the other dimension so the image keeps its original proportions.

Can I make an image larger?

Yes, but enlarging cannot create real detail that was not present in the source image.

Which file formats can I use?

Check the file picker and tool description for the supported formats. Available formats can vary by tool.
